iTunes has gone DRM-Free, but at a cost and benefit. First the cost; 20 cents more per track, and it is an all or nothing affair. So, my 1000 tracks that I have on iTunes, to go DRM free will cost $200. Well, I don’t like that one bit. That phrase makes me sound like the guy yelling at kids to get off my lawn (which I do occassionally.) and makes me feel like a crotchity old man. BAH! Humbug! I’ve already paid the premium price to get them a la carte!
They also double in size and presumably quality as well, but if you don’t have the sound system that enables your ear to distinguish that increase, or you’ve aged since iTunes was launched, well then it doesn’t matter does it. (Back to crotchity old man)
Also, the format is AAC, which, if you don’t like that format and volume therein, you have to convert to MP3. Also, your email address is included in the code of the AAC which isn’t a big deal unless you are a privacy nut like myself. Ironic I have my own blog.
