I found out that one of my cores on my Core 2 Duo were not detected by Windows 7. I had to run MSCONFIG and redetect the configuration. It was painless after a mistake I made ended in a Black Screen and required a repair. Windows 7 in its 32bit form has been painful for me, working in fits and starts, but this also fixed the Media Center problem. So, I’m happy again, all around.

The 64bit version has been working without a problem at all. Thanks Microsoft.

EDIT: I noticed a lot of traffic coming to these two entries and I guess it is because people are experiencing the same issues that I had. I, at one time, kept having my CPU usage pegged at 100% usage and I found out that Windows 7 didn’t correctly upgrade my system to use both CPU’s on my Core 2 Duo system from DELL. It is an XPS 600. Pretty old, so I suppose it took awhile for the drivers to wake up from their slumber.
