Windows 7 + Media Center = 100% CPU Usage

So, I decided to install the 32-bit version of Microsoft Windows 7 onto my main computer.

Yes, I know… beta software should not be on a primary computer, but I love the 64-bit version on my laptop. I get all 4 Gigs of memory, and my primary machine has 6GB so I’m hoping that I can do a system move and install the 64-bit version later.

Anyway, back to what I was saying… I run a lot of software at once, as well as Media Center, and I have never had a problem with Media Center. Until Windows 7; when I installed Windows 7, something very odd happened. My CPU utilization goes from below 12% (sometimes idling at 1%) with several browsers open, AVG, Thunderbird, Task Manager, Windows Explorer sessions, and the mixer… I launch Media Center and straight to 100% CPU utilization. Sometimes the picture even locks up as was the case when I started writing this.

Doing a search for this problem is futile since it pulls up everything have to do with Media Center, but I’ll continue searching. If you happen to stumble upon this blog and know of a solution, drop me a note.

EDIT: UPDATE
Update 3/4/2010, for some reason I am still getting a lot of traffic on this link. I hope the update to this helps. It was a dead link because I switched servers and configurations which broke the link. Thanks for stopping on my blog.
