I obtained MixWar to create a social network of musicians who would create high quality music and compete for prizes and fame. From there, music compilations could be purchased with proceeds going to the artists in the form of micro-payments after costs are subtracted. Since the purchase of MixWar.com back in 2005, many things have changed, and competitors have embraced the model to some degree. I’m still looking to make this happen, so if you are a coder and want to make an offer, I’m looking for the following options:
Social Network functionality allowing users to rate, review, comment, etc each song, album, artist, and lyric sheet. The ability to upload/download music and musicians ability to limit who can do such. The ability to purchase music and/or videos. The ability to create CD compilations including CD jacket information, case, etc. The ability for musicians to choose other works and create competitions “MixWar” style. In this case, an artist can take a work [any work] and mix, remix, twist and manipulate an artists work to create a substantially unique work and then upload it to their MixWar slot in the competition. The other artist who was chosen to compete, can take any work, and do the same, and at the end of the MixWar period, the users will vote for a winner. Voting must have several protective measures so that the ability to game the system is minimized.
