Pro Tip: Never Design a Product for a Trend Setting Technology if…

by James Hatch on May 8, 2009

1. It causes a persons eyes to remain unfocused for any period of time.

2. It can be described as “Product birthed by Satan himself.”
Gizmodo has always been a favorite of mine for my daily dose of snarky commentary. I read about 50 blogs a day to keep abreast of upcoming trends. Without going too far afield, blogs are probably the leading element to the downfall of newspapers. When people themselves can report, you don’t need as many reporters, and reporters create a somewhat proprietary element to information. That information becomes part and parcel to the newspaper. So, when blogs like Gizmodo report, there are fewer filters, and that blogger can spread the word to other blogs, his/her personal blog, and all of that bloggers fans. Not just the blog… the blogger.
So, when a blogger suggests that your newly reviewed product from Wazabee, called the 3DeeShell, for the iPhone, has caused his eyes to remain unfocused, or that the Brand name is “please-punch-me-in-the-face cutesy,” well, you should probably have sent an early prototype to that blogger.
