Amazon.com has deleted books from those who purchased… wait for it… yes, that’s right; 1984, and Animal Farm. Ha! They remotely deleted, without permission… 1984. It is late, I had heard about this earlier, but have been busy. There is a good reason for the intent to delete, the person who sold the books did not have the rights to do so, but the example they set for how technology can be used to abuse ethics is stunning.

edit: I was going to write about this, but really, it seems people think it is a tempest in a teapot. Personally, I find it horrible, that something can be removed from a device remotely. I can’t understand why someone would think it is a proper decision. It is akin to someone walking into my house and stealing books off my shelf. Perhaps the bank will think it made a poor decision in financing my car even though I’ve made every payment on time; but they just didn’t want to fund it anymore. [Yes, my car is financed.]

Anyway… moving on.
