I was just talking about the JK Wedding Entrance Dance that appeared on YouTube and became a viral marketing hit for Chris Brown’s Forever. I saw both the original, and the later monetized version. In the aftermath of its appearance, Sony has monetized the video and its popularity has increased the popularity of the song. Here is what *I* don’t know; Has the videographer, the newlyweds, or anyone else involved in the creation and recording of the VIDEO received anything in compensation. Because frankly, it could have been ANY song short of the sound track to Saw III, and it would have driven the popularity increase. Chris Brown and the song are meaningless in the overall scheme, yet THAT is what has driven YouTube and Google to promote it as a success in monetization. I’d be interested in knowing that revenue is being shared, and the good will that is being created in the wake of Brown’s fiasco, is being rewarded. I didn’t write anything initially because we don’t have any evidence aside from the Google blog stating that the copyright holder [Sony] has “successfully” monetized the video.
