I was in the way-back-machine, thinking about old projects that failed since it was easy to overcome the barriers. For instance, there was a project that I started called “SoundSoldier” that would encrypt account identifiable markers into music as MP3′s as it was purchased and downloaded. It was easy to wipe out the marker, so the project was set aside. Then there is the concept to stop movie “screeners” who record new releases in movie theaters. That involves scrolling high intensity infrared emitters across small holes in the screen to create flashes of light in the recordings of modern recorders. You can see the same effect if you push a button on a TV remote while pointing it at your camcorder or webcam.

But, one thing has been special for me as a memory. Nearly 10 years ago, I started a project, but couldn’t get funding. I spoke to the Linspire CEO (at the time, it had just launched after MP3.com), Michael Robertson, on the phone about it, he didn’t like the idea of it, he’s since opened up a related service and even moved on beyond that. The plan was to create customized CD’s at $.75 to $1.25 a song, made to order. It was a great idea, then… now, not so much.

Another idea was to utilize low-earth-orbit satellites in combat theaters… I had the idea to track multiple targets in given areas, from start to finish to see where they go, when they go, and what they do. If an event happens in the surveillance zone, artificial intelligence and human interaction can allow a tactical strike on the given position(s). That project never got beyond research, as a civilian without any top-secret clearance, it is tough to do anything with the military beyond selling products and services in bidding wars.

One thing that I keep having float around in my head is this… “Move Fast!”
