So, this deal with Adobe purchasing Omniture for $1.8 Billion. It doesn’t make sense right? Why would a graphic software developer want to purchase an online metrics company?
Well, advertising online is the growing trend, you simply can’t stop the train. More and more people move to the Internet every second, and the only way to capitalize on that growth is to measure it. Otherwise it is just a shot in the dark and you have no idea if your advertising is effect. Couple these thoughts with the fact that Adobe has developed its online version of Photoshop Software as a Service with an analytics company, and you have the makings of a one stop shop for development of online GRAPHIC advertisements instead of the Google hegemony on text based advertising. So, if you want something graphically rich, you have to go down the Adobe route. With Flash, Photoshop, and analytics on the back end; you can do everything from marketing to analysis of the conversion rate.
You can’t deny that it is a smart purchase. You provide the tool for advertising, you provide the measuring stick for return on investment.. they are only missing one thing; HyperAd. But I’m still working on it. I need some heavy investment, programmers, and time.
