Random Thought: Health Care Reform Bill HR3200 Start Up Funding

by James Hatch on September 26, 2009

I’m reading the Health Care Bill, HR3200. An interesting note, on page 120, line 8. The start-up capitalization is only $2,000,000,000. Yah, $2 Billion to fund a program that is supposed to cover upwards of 330 million people. To put this in perspective, in October of 2006, YouTube was sold for $1.65 Billion. So, the painful truth is that the HR3200 bill is being capped with only $350 million more than the valuation given to a site full of cat videos and jackass clones. I don’t know if I should laugh or cry. There is a lot more in this Bill, so any interesting tidbits will get posted. Like the fact that there are multiple levels with differing premium rates. At least 3 different supplemental plans, one required plan to be on the Health Care Exchange.
