Sungha Jung Strikes a Chord with Acoustic Guitars

by James Hatch on September 30, 2009

I’m a fan of acoustic guitars. I have no known talent in it though, I haven’t tried to play guitar. I may never try now that I heard this 12 year old from South Korea play with such ease. It is actually a motivator and demotivator all in one.

Sungha Jung picked up the guitar 3 years ago after watching his dad play. 3 Years! And at 12, I think I was jumping my bike over giant green dumpsters and stomping mud puddles. Those were different times than they are now. I’m feeling old. Follow the link, and you’ll lose about a half hour of your day to listening to this kid, he’s amazing. His guitars are now from Lakewood Guitars, in Germany. Very rich sounds come from his guitars when he plays.

I was trying hard to find a video that I was happy with, but to tell the truth, they are all pretty sweet. I can’t choose one, but I have to give you a sample, so I’m pulling a random one from his list and throwing it below, enjoy.

Okay, so I found this one too, the fingerwork is great, watch how an entire level of  sound is added when he moves his left hand.
