Greening the planet, pockets, or both?

I’m not sure why Google would be interested in monitoring the metering of houses other than diversification of their product offering and minimizing risk across their properties. Anyway, Google PowerMeter is an interesting product and I suppose service at some point. It receives data from providers regarding how much power you are sucking down to your house, at some point I believe they’ll offer services and products to help you lower your energy bill while providing some other value added service to the utilities that are taking place. For instance, I’d like to know why my water bill went up $17 over the course of a quarter. That is a 25% increase on my standard bill but I haven’t been taking 25% more showers, I don’t water my yard. Maybe my cat decided to learn to turn on the faucet and thankfully turns it off. *shrug*
