We’ve all had family gatherings, but I don’t know how many of you have witnessed the frustration and thought about how to solve… the dripping gravy boat. Well, more than 5 years ago, I was at my in-laws house for Thanksgiving. Between friendly and family banter, I tried to pour some gravy from the gravy boat and like anyone who thinks about solving problems all the time, I watched as gravy stuck to the spout and ran down the side to the bottom and onto the gravy boat [dock? Is that what its called?] anyway, I instantly thought that something needs to be done. Silicon spray? Naw, that will poison people. How about something else? But I knew that any standard material would simply have a capillary type effect and just make some liquid stick to it… in comes MIT all these years later to solve the problem scientifically.
