Wow. Just Wow. Google has been able to secure a small bonanza in the form of 30,000 customers through Los Angeles porting over its mail system to Google. Something I find rather odd. I understand they are trying to save costs, it is California afterall and they are in financial turmoil, but what now? If Google goes down, all they can do is complain to Google to get it back up; of course, being a city encourages a provider to move quickly.

Security? It is a lot harder to police 30,000 city employee emails in the mix of the total number that Google controls than it is for a City NOC administrator to see someone attempt to penetrate the network. Just my take, maybe Google has something that allows them to drill down to penetration attempts actively. I hope they do.
