With the launch of the Droid, and Google Turn-By-Turn maps, you will probably see antitrust lawsuits coming from TomTom and Garmin; what the basis will be is unknown, but I’m going to predict something will come of this. In two days, we’ve seen up to a 30% decline in the stocks of the two leading competitors in the GPS market. A spectacular blow to any company. And with the huge coffers of Google; we can expect this type of activity to continue. Google can penetrate any market by simply offering a solution at zero cost to the end user while gleaning information about where people travel, when they travel, and even perhaps, what they do while they are there. Want to see what happened to TomTom and Garmin today? Is Google the Wal-Mart of the Internet? I am doing a strategic analysis of Apple from its creation until the end of November, and I have to say that Google is shaping up to be more of a competitor for services and software than Microsoft.
