Murdoch is the Anti-Google; Wants to remove “his” content.

by James Hatch on November 9, 2009

When Murdoch launches his pay firewall, if logic fails him, he’ll want to remove “his” content from Google and presumably things such as news aggregation sites. I still think that he’ll regret it. It will show how totalitarian he is, and the news will still “get out” from behind his desire to control information. It is the reason why owners weren’t allowed to control too much information distribution channels in one market, because it limits a measured message; one that FOX news has learned how to do and is ideal for arguing for limiting how many people can control one message.

Feel free to prevent indexing of your newspapers Murdoch, others will come along and scoop up the content just as easily. People want to get news out, the bonus is in getting paid, but people will still tell the story regardless.
