TechCrunch.com has an article about how FB has overtaken AOL. I am not surprised. AOL froze in its tracks more than 10 years ago, at least as far as innovation and attention grabbing went. It went dark. It was only by sheer weight that it lasted this long.

I was an early user of AOL, back when it had a client and dialing in at 1200 and 2400 baud was the only way to interact. I started with a 110 baud acoustic-couple modem though from Fort Ord California and from home. Yah, I AM THAT OLD. But, I still am a little kid when it comes to tech and AOL at the time was just a blast. Now though, it might as well have tumbleweed rolling through it constantly. Sure, it has users, but AOL could have been the Facebook of the world so easily. Just innovate, or at the least, follow as a second mover and keep your userbase from exiting.

If you want help AOL, I’m available to give you some ideas that I’m sitting on.
