Apple has long been on the war path to remove adult content from its site and services, except if you are a well positioned male magazine or have enough money to throw at them to overcome any limits they might set.

But today, Google announced its Instant search results [which, by the way, put a coffin nail in a project I've been working on for a few months as part of my 100 in 1 Year project], and it quickly became apparent that they literally whitewash the screen when a naughty word appears the entire search results disappear from the instant results page and dropdown.

The extent to which that takes place, I don’t know. But certainly, any words that you wouldn’t normally speak in public will blank the screen. So, now you can watch your kids from across the room and inquire as to why their screen is blank. Since this is active communications between you and Google, you could accidentally set off your corporate firewall as well because pictures appear and results that might trigger a keyword filter could get you in some serious trouble.
