ohmTown, the Studios and future developments there…

I’ve been working on ohmTown Studios for awhile. Nearly 2 years since I focused it. My problem now lies in the fact that I need hosts that want to run shows under the ohmTown moniker. I tend to work on a lot of different projects at a time as you can see from my company site at HATCHideas.

If you are interested in hosting a show, and I currently have 50 shows available, let me know. I’m planning on starting shows again, and using Google Hangouts on Air instead of Spreecast simply because Spreecast can’t compete with the resolution of Google Hangouts and the feature set available.

Hosts can be located anywhere, and show times are open for discussion. I would like the length to be around one hour, and at least once a week. Other than that, the host has control of the show. I’ll make myself available to co-host any show as long as it doesn’t conflict with a show I’ve already got locked down. The intent of the network is to provide a means for anyone to engage in on-the-air discussion. Unlike other places who focus on some particular pundit who people gravitate towards, I want anyone to be able to discuss their thoughts on the matter… live.

All you need is a webcam and an internet connection and you can talk with the audience and fellow citizens of ohmTown.com and through ohmTown Studios.

So, why do I like the format where anyone can engage in discussion?

Because over the years, one thing has become painfully clear. Pundits are correct about 50% of the time, regardless of their popularity, they are only right about half the time. So, who needs pundits except for their personality and the magic of letting anyone on the air is that its all about personality. A viewer of the show can voice their opinion and it will be heard and people may like what they have to say and how they say it.

What about people who hosts who are connected and can bring in “VIP” type individuals?

That is great. As time goes on, and ohmTown becomes more popular, its simply a matter of a request. Someone who wants to talk to an audience will come on the show, but it takes the best bang-for-buck impression to make it happen. Even popularity of a netcast can’t bring some people to the table for a discussion. We’ll get some, we won’t get others, but more importantly, we’ll get discussion going on the matter no matter what.

When are you starting this up again?

I’m refiring the engines of ohmTown from behind the scenes development, to full launch on Monday, the 6th. I will do alphas of the shows each day, and then beta shows with rundowns and such, then launch entirely within the next 3 months. So, January = Alpha, February = Beta, March = Launch. With or without new hosts, this will launch.

The plan is to have 3 shows a day, they will be posted on ohmTown.com, HATCHideas.com, and here on my personal site. I was planning on having the following shows each week:

Monday – LAUNCHiBLE, JewelCrafting, TabletFan, and the Daily News Show

LAUNCHiBLE is a show about startups and individuals that are the dreamers within the startup that is driving the vision into reality. There is a lot of debate around the idea of what is better… the idea or the execution. For me, neither is better, you can’t have one without the other and it be viable. Just like you can’t divide by zero; you can’t execute in a vacuum.

JewelCrafting is a show about artisans. I want to bring artisans from various locations to the table for a discussion about their work, their motivation, and let potential customers ask questions live. I’ve purchased from various artisans over the years and think the people behind the work do not get enough attention.

TabletFan is a show about Tablet Computing and doesn’t focus on a particular platform, so any operating system is fair game. iOS, Android, Windows and even a Unix/Linux/*nix distribution is open for discussion.

The Daily News Show discusses the days events, either those from the day before, or breaking news of the day. The topics will change, the segments may not. For instance, a tech segment, a business segment…etc. Usually 8 segments.

Tuesday – Greenagram, sMACk Talk, Stockmarketeers, and the Daily News Show

Greenagram is about your standard tree hugger topics. From recycling news to businesses that focus on being eco-friendly.

sMACk Talk is all about Apple products and competitors.

Stockmarketeers focuses on fundamental analysis of a business and its stock.

The Daily News Show discusses the days events, either those from the day before, or breaking news of the day. The topics will change, the segments may not. For instance, a tech segment, a business segment…etc. Usually 8 segments.

Wednesday – StreamStars, Tabletop Knights, HATCHideas, and the Daily News Show

StreamStars is considers the broadcasts of other content creators on YouTube and other video host sites. We’ll talk about the shows and the hosts and the topics of the shows. I’m hoping to provide prizes and awards.

Tabletop Knights is a show about tabletop gaming such as Warhammer 40K. I’m in the process of developing a tabletop game called Hexopoly, and have been a gamer all my life. I’d like to talk with people who are gamers and discuss products and new games each week.

HATCHideas is a Q/A show about business strategy, intellectual property development and entrepreneurism.

The Daily News Show discusses the days events, either those from the day before, or breaking news of the day. The topics will change, the segments may not. For instance, a tech segment, a business segment…etc. Usually 8 segments.

Thursday – Temporology, WarCrafters, The Word in Tech, and the Daily News Show

Temporology is a show about the science and science-fiction of time travel, including movies, books and research into the topic.

WarCrafters is a show about MMO, FPS and other computer based war gaming.

The Word in Tech is a show about technology and each week, a current or new word will be used to discuss the trend of the week, month or year. Something to think about, essentially.

The Daily News Show discusses the days events, either those from the day before, or breaking news of the day. The topics will change, the segments may not. For instance, a tech segment, a business segment…etc. Usually 8 segments.

Friday – The Continuity Report, Steampunkology, Late Nite Geeks, and the Daily News Show

The Continuity Report is a show about movies, in particular, I’d like to focus on the things that make you wonder about the movie or television show. The Continuity Report is a document that reflects how things are positioned on a set so that it can be matched in subsequent takes and retakes. I love finding easter eggs and glitches, so that is what the show will focus on.

Steampunkology is a show about the people and culture of an era where steam power drives the machinery of the world. I’ll focus on the gear, the personalities, websites, events and more.

The Daily News Show discusses the days events, either those from the day before, or breaking news of the day. The topics will change, the segments may not. For instance, a tech segment, a business segment…etc. Usually 8 segments.

Late Nite Geeks is a show that takes place late at nite and focuses on technology and gadgets and is basically a Friday night hangout for those who aren’t particularly interested in going out and getting drunk.

Thanks for reading, hope to see you at ohmTown.
